Project Details
To Design provided the site redesign of the popular south side of Stanley Quarter Park. The site renovation addresses many needs of park users by providing a variety of passive and active recreation areas. Improvements include lighted basketball courts, expanded playground, pavilion, sitting plaza, and picnicking areas. The park design also upgrades the park's circulation by providing accessible ramps and stairs to the pond, an improved multi-use trail, and a designated parking lot.
As part of the Stanley Quarter Park improvements project, a 50’ sample length of ShoreSox was installed as a pilot program to evaluate possible use on future projects in New Britain. ShoreSox is an environmentally-friendly method of stabilizing and reversing shoreline erosion. The process uses a photodegradable mesh system that withstands the forces of nature and provides an immediately stabilized and uniformed pond edge, promoting a healthy environment for vegetation to grow.
The project is slated for completion in Spring 2020.
