2021 Merit Awards

April 6th, 2021

Courtland Arms and ImmaCare (formerly the Church of the Immaculate Conception), recently won 2021 Merit Awards from Preservation Connecticut. These awards honor the outstanding efforts in the preservation and enhancement of historic places throughout Connecticut.

COURTLAND ARMS

The Courtland Arms building, located directly behind To Design's office, dates back to 1925 and sat vacant for over 20 years before the Chrysalis Center bought the property and restored it to its former glory.

We completed the site design for this project in collaboration with Paul B. Bailey Architect and Chrysalis Center, Inc.

Site elements include permeable pavers, site accessibility for all users, parking lot improvements, site lighting and planting.

Immacare

The 125-year-old Immaculate Conception Church on Park Street in Hartford was improved to meet the needs of the ImmaCare facility. ImmaCare has been serving the people of Hartford experiencing homelessness since 1981, providing shelter and affordable supportive housing .

We collaborated with Paul B. Bailey Architect on this restoration of this former church which includes new fencing, utilities, parking, and plantings.

Congratulations to our friends and colleagues! To Design is honored to be part of these important projects.
