PROJECT DETAILS
Named after Barbara Geller, a supportive housing pioneer and former Statewide Services Division Director at CT Dept. of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Geller Commons serves the needs of those experiencing homelessness. Once a vacant lot, Geller Commons is a new 3-store, 33-unit affordable and supportive housing complex that provides homes for people with disabilities and mental illness, as well as young people who have aged out of the foster system.
To Design services on this project included site layout and materials, as well as planting and design. We especially enjoyed designing the Geller Memorial Garden to honor Barbara Geller, and bioretention systems which will be used to treat stormwater runoff on the site and protect the overall water quality of Turner's Pond.
