Project Details
Wethersfield High School had a $75M renovation project approved in April 2012 with construction commencing in the fall of 2013. The ambitious three-year project will transform the school, originally built in the 1950s, into a 21st century learning facility with a complete makeover of the building's interior and exterior, including three new building additions for Music, Media Center and Gymnasium.
To Design worked with the design team to produce the $7M site design and construction documents. The site facilities were expanded to allow for 550 parking spaces, new accessible paths to all outdoor facilities, new tennis courts and a new vehicular circulation system that allows for separate bus and parent drop-off areas. The new school layout now has three courtyards that were designed to complement and enhance the contemporary architecture of the building. New student and public entrance areas will enhance the transition experience from the site to the building.
Wethersfield High School's renovation was featured in the American School & University’s Architectural Portfolio, and online at SchoolDesigns.com.
